How to Qualify for APF / AAPF Nationals:
The APF hosts two National meets per year: (1) APF Nationals and (2) AAPF Nationals. Both meets have all divisions, equipment categories, Full Power (Squat / Bench / Deadlift), Bench only, and Deadlift only. APF is non-tested, AAPF is drug tested.
To qualify for APF or AAPF Nationals, an Open Division lifter must achieve a minimum Class IV Total in a sanctioned APF / AAPF meet in the previous calendar year, or in the year of Nationals prior to the date of Nationals. For APF Nationals, Open Division lifters must achieve a Class IV Total in the WPC Men’s or Women’s Classification chart for each equipment category. For AAPF Nationals, Open Division lifters must achieve a Class IV Total in the AWPC Men’s or Women’s Classification chart for each equipment category.

Lifters in the age divisions (Teen, Junior, Masters) do not need a specific qualifying total, but must have successfully completed an APF / AAPF sanctioned meet, achieving a meet Total, in the previous calendar year, or in the year of Nationals prior to the date of Nationals. Similarly, single-lift competitors (Bench only / Deadlift only) must have a successful lift in an APF / AAPF sanctioned meet in the previous calendar year, or in the year of Nationals prior to the date of Nationals.
For lifters in other WPC affiliated countries, check with the President of the affiliate powerlifting organization for qualifying information on their national meet(s).
How to Qualify for WPC / AWPC Worlds:
The WPC hosts (2) World Championships per year: (1) WPC Worlds and (2) AWPC Worlds. One of the World Championships will take place in the United States, one will take place overseas (i.e., Europe) and will rotate geographic locations each year. United States lifters need to place 1st – 3rd at APF Nationals to qualify for WPC Worlds and/or 1st – 3rd at AAPF Nationals to qualify for AWPC Worlds. This qualification applies to all divisions, events, and equipment categories.
Lifters outside of the United States must contact the respective WPC affiliated powerlifting organization for qualifying information. The process is very similar in most other counties, but all lifters in each country must submit their registration through the WPC affiliated organization to compete at WPC and/or AWPC Worlds.
